From aspiring healer to visual storyteller: My journey through the lens.

About Me

I am Hosna Fazily, a photographer based in Afghanistan. My path to photography has been uniquely my own. While my early studies were in medicine, driven by a wish to heal, I discovered another form of healing – the power of visual storytelling. Life’s unexpected turns led me to embrace the camera as my instrument to document, to preserve, and to share the world through my perspective.

My photography is a personal exploration and a tribute to Afghanistan. I am deeply drawn to capturing the vibrant life of Afghan streets and the enduring beauty of our cultural heritage. Whether it’s the fleeting moments in bustling city corners or the timeless echoes within ancient monuments, I aim to reveal the rich tapestry of Afghan culture and the resilient spirit of its people. This dedication has brought international recognition, with my work being shortlisted for three years in the Silk Road International Photography Competition and published in Silk Road Magazine in 2023.

More than just capturing images, I aspire to build bridges of understanding and challenge prevailing narratives about Afghanistan. I am committed to using photography as a tool for documentation, for cultural exchange, and to contribute to a more nuanced and human perspective of my homeland. With passion and purpose, I am eager to further develop my skills and vision, and continue on this journey of visual storytelling.
